Common donation problems

The problem.
How we solve it.

The situations we hear about most, and exactly how our crew handles each one.

01

Good items headed for the landfill

The problem

Usable furniture and household goods get thrown out because there’s no time or truck to donate them.

How we solve it

We sort as we load and take items in good condition to local donation centres before anything goes to disposal.

02

A donation centre that’s full

The problem

Centres have limits, and an item can be turned away when they’re full or not taking that type.

How we solve it

We work with several donation centres and find another suitable option when possible. If none fits, it’s recycled or disposed of properly.

03

Downsizing with too much to sort

The problem

Deciding what to donate, recycle or toss, room by room, can take weeks.

How we solve it

You don’t need to pre-sort. Set aside what you’re keeping, and our crew handles the rest.

04

An estate full of usable belongings

The problem

Executors are often left with a whole home of furniture, housewares and tools that still have life left.

How we solve it

We remove the approved items and send reusable ones to donation, so the home is cleared responsibly.

05

Belongings left behind by tenants

The problem

Landlords end up with furniture and household items from the previous tenant blocking the next move-in.

How we solve it

We donate and recycle what’s usable, dispose of the rest and leave the unit ready for new occupants.

06

Not sure what will be accepted

The problem

Stains, odours, damage, missing parts and pests can mean an item is declined.

How we solve it

We check condition and safety as we sort. Clean, working items go to donation and the rest goes where it belongs.

What items can be donated?

Items that are clean, functional and safe to use, such as furniture, small appliances, clothing, housewares, toys, books, tools and home décor.

Is donation guaranteed?

No. It depends on each item’s condition and what donation centres are accepting at the time. We find another suitable option when possible.

Do I need to sort everything first?

No. We sort as we load, into donation, recycling and disposal. Just set aside anything you’re keeping.

What happens to items that can’t be donated?

Recyclable materials go to recycling facilities, and the rest is disposed of responsibly.

Where do donated items go?

To local charities and donation centres in the Fraser Valley, based on what each one is accepting.

Does donating lower my cost?

It can. Donating and recycling reduce landfill weight, which reduces dumping fees.

Can you donate a mattress?

Only if it’s in acceptable condition, and most organizations have strict rules. If donation matters to you, arrange a confirmed donation directly before booking.
