Common flooring removal problems
What we see under old floors most often, and how our crew handles each one.
Glued carpet and hardwood take significantly more labour than floating floors and can leave adhesive behind.
We assess the installation from your photos and quote the labour up front. Adhesive grinding is separate unless stated.
Older vinyl flooring, backing and adhesive may contain asbestos.
Suspect materials must be assessed and tested by a qualified professional before they are disturbed.
Tile removal is labour-intensive and produces heavy, sharp debris, sometimes over a thick mortar bed.
We remove qualifying tile, approved underlayment and loose mortar, then load and haul it all away.
Stairs have far more edges, fasteners and individual surfaces than a flat floor.
Send photos of the entire staircase so we can price the extra labour before we start.
Furniture and appliances left in the room slow the work and may need disconnecting first.
Tell us during the estimate. Empty rooms generally allow faster and more economical removal.
Removing flooring can reveal water damage, rot, mould, uneven surfaces or extra layers.
Your flooring installer or contractor should inspect the exposed surface. Subfloor repair isn’t included unless stated in the quote.
