Common concrete problems

The problem.
How we solve it.

The concrete jobs we hear about most, and how our crew handles each one.

01

A cracked patio in the way of new plans

The problem

An old patio is cracked, uneven or doesn’t fit a new landscaping plan for grass, gardens, pavers or decking.

How we solve it

We break apart and remove the patio concrete, planning the demolition to limit damage to nearby fences, landscaping and structures.

02

A slab left behind

The problem

The shed, hot tub or greenhouse is gone, but the concrete pad underneath still blocks the space.

How we solve it

We commonly remove non-structural pads underneath sheds, hot tubs and other outdoor structures, and haul all the debris.

03

Rebar and wire mesh

The problem

Steel mesh or rebar inside the concrete makes it much harder to break apart and separate.

How we solve it

Tell us about rebar or mesh up front. We arrive with the right tools to cut, separate and haul reinforced concrete when site conditions allow.

04

A pile you already broke up

The problem

You did the demolition yourself, and now a heavy pile of broken concrete is sitting in the yard.

How we solve it

We load and remove broken concrete piles from renovations, landscaping projects and construction sites.

05

Concrete mixed with other debris

The problem

Soil, garbage, drywall or insulation mixed into the pile changes how the concrete can be disposed of.

How we solve it

Keep the concrete as clean as you can. Mixed debris may be subject to different disposal requirements and additional charges, and we’ll explain them up front.

06

Too heavy to do yourself

The problem

Removing concrete yourself can mean injuries, damaged equipment or harm to nearby structures and underground utilities.

How we solve it

We assess the site, choose the safest removal method and provide the labour and hauling to clear it away.

Do you break up the concrete?

Yes. We provide concrete demolition as well as loading, hauling and disposal. If the concrete is already broken up, we can pick up and remove the debris.

Can you remove concrete containing rebar?

Yes, depending on the size and site conditions. Reinforced concrete generally needs more labour, cutting and equipment, which can affect the price.

Can you remove a concrete shed or hot tub pad?

Yes. We commonly remove non-structural pads underneath sheds, hot tubs and other outdoor structures.

Do I need a permit?

Permit requirements depend on the location and scope of the project. Concrete connected to a structure, located near utilities or situated on public property may require permits or additional approvals. Property owners are responsible for confirming permit requirements unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Do you locate underground utilities?

No. Underground utilities and private services must be properly identified before demolition begins. Utility locating or disconnection should be completed by the appropriate qualified provider.

Do you provide excavation or grading afterward?

Concrete removal is generally limited to demolition, loading, hauling and basic cleanup. Excavation, backfilling, soil delivery, grading and landscaping can be discussed separately if required.

How do I get a quote?

Send us photos of the concrete with its approximate length, width and thickness, plus photos of the access between the concrete and the nearest parking area.
